Coventry Meet Up

Coventry Meet Up - end of year round up (2017)

We had meetings in Coventry in October and November 2017.

Unfortunately we were unable to meet in August and SeptemberOctober was a catching up on news and reports of the PMRGCA A.G.M held in September.

On Friday 24th November. we had our first "external" speaker, Dr. S. Dubey RKB, Consultant Rheumatologist from University Hospital, Coventry and Warwickshire. Ten members and two carers were present.

We had collected questions from group members in advance of the meeting and circulated these to members and Dr. Dubey.  This avoided duplication and meant no time was wasted, a two hour session is not long!  Luckily it was a relaxed occasion and Dr. Dubey and members were happy to discuss and exchange views.

Two questions were felt to be of particular interest and in need of being persued. We wondered whether the National PMRGCAuk group had any knowledge that would answer the questions raised by Paddy and Judith or whether we should suggest that the topics need to be researched.

From Paddy:  What is being done to train new Rheumatologists / G.P.s about PMR and GCA including the mysteries with Prednisolone and tapering down?

From Judith:  Should patients with GCA. be screened for Aortic Aneurism, if so how frequently?

Best wishes to you all for a very Happy Christmas and a Healthy and rewarding New Year.
