Visit to the Worshipful Company of Skinners

Another great tour has been organised for all members and friends and families at The Worshipful Company of Skinners, in the heart of the City of London.  It was designed by William Jupp, and built between 1770 and 1790.
 ‘At Sixes and Sevens’
A fixed procession order was laid down in 1516 for the Lord Mayor's Procession for the 48 livery companies of the time.  That order remains to the present day, though there are now 108 companies.  The Skinners and Merchant Taylors alternating between sixth and seventh place, probably the origin of the phrase: 'to be at sixes and sevens.'
